He was invited by Delhi police to deliver lecture to trainee jawans and officers to sensitize them about problems faced by NE people at Delhi and NCR. More than three hundred jawans along with officers were present on the occasion.
Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police (Training) Robin Hibu, vice principal of Wazirabad PTS Apur Bitin were among others who were present on the occasion.
In his deliberation, Ajum stressed on the need for accepting NE people as fellow citizens by people of Delhi. “Because of Mongoloid feature NE people become subject to taunt and abuse on the street of Delhi. Often youngsters object to such humiliation and try to fight back. It leads to confrontation and that’s where role of police comes. However it is seen that Delhi police also instead of helping NE people humiliates them,” stated Ajum.
He added, “The mainland Indian has to accept the fact that NE citizens despite looking different are as much Indian like them. We also expressed dismay with rest of country when India loose cricket match with Pakistan. Infact we are natural barrier against countries like China, Myanmar and Bangladesh.” The trainee police jawans patiently listen to the passionate lecture.
“NE people are by nature very shy and take time to open up. Some of them are very poor in Hindi and are not able to express their feelings. Delhi police keep in mind these things while dealing with citizen hailing from NE region. I truly hope that all the police officials present here will from now tackle problem confronting NE citizens with much affection and maturity,” continued Ajum.
Jt Commissioner of police Robin Hibu spoke in details about various steps taken by Delhi police to deal with issues concerning NE citizens. “As part of effort we have selected representatives from all NE states and have trained them too. Colony without telephone connection
Dear Editor,
Most readers of your esteemed daily would not believe if I say there is a colony
in capital complex without telephone connectivity. Yes, there is one -
Thanks to availability of number of mobile service network (with their erratic services) which takes the place of telephone connectivity for the daily communication needs of the residents. But it certainly is of no use when it comes to accessing or working on internet. The colony also lacks National Informatics Centre (NIC) connection. One has to run over three Kms to the nearest cyber café in the main Naharlagun Market and if the need is during night hours there is no help but to wait for the cyber café to open, the next day. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limit (BSNL) which boasts of Connecting India has miserably failed to connect the residents of Pachin Colony in the heart of the Itanagar Capital Complex for last many years.
Hope, this letter would be an eye opener for the BSNL authorities and others to connect the neglected colony with rest of the country.
